Feed In Tariffs/ Clean Energy Scheme:

  • Generation Tariff: is a set rate paid by your energy supplier for every kWh generated.
  • Export Tariff: you receive an additional 3p per kWh from your energy supplier for every unit you export into the grid.
  • Energy bill savings: by generating electricity for your own use instead of buying in electricity from your energy supplier.

Feed In Tariffs/ Clean Energy Scheme:

The Feed in Tariff/clean energy cash back scheme guarantees a payment for all electricity generated as well as a separate payment for any electricity exported to the grid.

In addition to this are the bill savings made by using the electricity generated on site (rather than purchasing from your utility supplier).

This is a government backed scheme that allows anyone who is generating up to 5 megawatts of clean energy through a microgeneration technology (i.e. solar PV) will receive a payment for every kw produced.

The return on investment for a PV system is usually around 8% over the lifetime and size of the system and this should more than pay for the capital outlay. To qualify for the FITS the installation must be carried out by a MCS installer, of which 365 Solar is accredited.

The scheme benefits in three ways:

  • Generation Tariff: is a set rate paid by your energy supplier for every kWh generated.
  • Export Tariff: you receive an additional 3p per kWh from your energy supplier for every unit you export into the grid.
  • Energy bill savings: by generating electricity for your own use instead of buying in electricity from your energy supplier.

The tariff above is valid on installations carried out between 15th July 2009 to 31st March 2012, for 25 years. Installations after this date will be on a lower tariff which is in line with the retail price index. Generation and export tariffs will be linked to the retail price index to ensure that they follow the rate of inflation.
